Sorry folks, we've decided to cancel the activity fair to prevent a super spreader event from happening.

You'll find information about the various activity groups which are operating on the website, along with the ability to contact the organizers directly.

You can update your own profile (when logged onto the site) to select which groups you would like to participate in.

One change we are now planning to make as a result of your input, is to change the time of day we have our monthly speakers session. It will move to be later in the afternoon instead of the middle of the day.

Investigating human remains on residential schools With Susan Pfeiffer

A retired anthropology and archeology Professor from University of Toronto  discussed the planning and execution of investigations of human remains on residential school properties. Susan’s experience and expertise will help us understand how researchers and First Nation communities work together to shed new light on a national tragedy.

Dan told  the story of HMS Speedy, the British gunboat that disappeared in a terrible storm near Presqu’ile Point in 1804. These dramatic events are followed by new information from the diver who believed he had found the remains of the Speedy. Is the mystery solved?

The emails that go to all members from Grey Highlands Probus are sent via a bulk list. Email servers know this and treat such emails differently than ones coming from an individual  -- sending them to spam or a promotions folder. This is an attempt to be helpful and shield you from unwanted or less important communication.

But you WANT the emails from Probus, right? There have been several emails go out in the last couple of weeks about the membership renewal process. They have all been delivered, but not all of you are aware because they've not hit your email inbox.

Here's what you can do at your end to alleviate the problem:

    • Add the name/address to your contacts list:
    Name: Grey Highlands PROBUS Club
    Email address: admin@greyhighlandsprobus.club
    • Check your promotions tab (if using gmail) regularly and also the spam folder. You can try dragging the email from promotions to inbox and that may trigger a setting for future emails to be delivered to the inbox.

Our fearless Chistmas Elves (Sherry and Bernie) organized a wonderful gathering in Owen Sound last night. It started with hot chocolate, coffee and special treats prepared by our own Jeanette. Then the gang wandered the light displays in Harrison Park and walked downtown to see the many displays by the water. Weather was super cooperative for which we were grateful. What a nice holiday treat. Happy Holidays everyone!

Our world is changing quickly in terms of vaccination mandates.  In the past months, federal and provincial governments, airlines, banks, and many other organizations have announced that only fully vaccinated individuals can meet.  It therefore seems prudent that our Probus Club should follow suit with a policy that only fully vaccinated people will participate in individual activity groups.  Members are of course expected to also follow current guidelines with respect to masks and social distancing.

In the event that an activity coordinator is not vaccinated, or wishes to include individuals who are not vaccinated, they will seek the approval of their group before meeting and they will ensure full disclosure of this approach.

These guidelines apply to all Probus meetings, indoors or outdoors.
