This 23 km ride is mostly on the rail trail beside the old Simcoe and Huron railway thru flat and quiet farmland from Nottawa to downtown Stayner, with distant scenic views of the Blue Mountain. Mostly flat but a couple of moderately steep short hills. After a break in the park, we return the same way. We can have a drink or lunch at the pub when we finish.
Directions: In Nottawa on Simcoe County Rd 124 at Batteaux Sideroad. Park along the side of Batteaux Sideroad closer to the school or in the school parking lot if there is room.
Detailed description of the ride
Ride east on Batteaux Sideroad, turn right on Nottawasaga Concession Road 6, over the bridge, then left onto the rail trail (take care on the first curve, both out and back). The rail trail leads to the main street of Stayner, which is very busy and difficult to cross. We will take a break and return along the side route.
