Ride with the Road Warriors

  • Every Wednesday

Starting 10:00 am May 6, 2026 from Vandeleur Parkette

We ride weekly, beginning at a predetermined location and set out for a cool 20 to 50 kilometer ride (your choice) through some of Grey County’s most beautiful scenery.  We return back to the start location at noon for a group lunch.  Riders are usually back home by 1:30 ish.  Some of our favourite routes begin in Vandeleur, Kimberley, Meaford and Williamsford and follow spectacular road biking routes.  E-bikers are welcome.

We have several ride related events you may be interested in:

  • Monthly Ride and Dines - we have lunch at a local restaurant at the end of the ride.
  • Hosted Rides - bring your own bagged lunch to the ride from the host’s home.
  • Markdale Grand Fondo - we enter a team to raise money for the Markdale hospital.
  • Bring a Friend Ride – to introduce new riders to our group.
  • Season Ending Wind Up Ride – Current and past members join in to celebrate.

Come join us.

Simply sign up today and you will receive details re our weekly ride events.

Wind up Ride and Lunch

GHP Road Warriors Ride procedures:

·        Cap on total number of cyclists to 25 for safety and health reasons.

·        Ride your ride.  We generally have one group who will ride +/- 25 kms and one group who will ride +/- 40 km.  Many rides are out and back along the same route so you can easily ride for however far you wish on those rides.

·        No one rides alone, one of the other riders will alway pair up with you.

·        Appoint a leader for each group to lead the riders safely and keep group together.  Keep the groups to a maximum of 10 riders.

·        Bring your own brown bag and refreshments for lunch.  Lunch is at noon and we ask all riders to return around then.

·        Rides and après ride to be all in public venues or hosted by one of the group.

·        Safety and rules of the road are paramount (see Safe Riding Skills below)

·        Meet at 9:45 am – Start riding at 10:00 am – Lunch at Noon – Done by 1:00 pm

·        Many members also ride on Sunday. Sunday rides will be discussed at lunch on Wednesday.

Safe riding skills:

·        When we stop, choose the right place to do so, i.e.:

·        Away from intersections

·        Away from top of hills

·        Find a driveway or clearing so that no riders stop on the road

·        On a busy road, ride single file in a group of 5 maximum

·        Know your hand signals, make them clear and definitive

·        Shoulder check is one of the forgotten safe riding skills

·        The other one is to ride in a simple straight line (not joking)

The 3 R’s:

·        Same Roads: You can and should use the roads – not the sidewalks

·        Same Right: You have the right to your space on the road

·        Same Rules: If you want respect, you need to follow the rules. You can’t have it both ways!

The 3 A’s:

·        Be Aware of hazards, road conditions, intersections

·        Stay Alert at all times

·        Keep your Attitude in check; If you want to get even with someone, make it the person that treated you with respect, and not the truck driver that passed by you too close for comfort.
